Holland Hospital Patient Access Specialist - Zeeland in Zeeland, Michigan

This position welcomes patients into HHMB and completes registration on all patients arriving for Holland Hospital services provided at HHMB Zeeland. Staff in this position will provide exemplary customer service and demonstrate the understanding that the Patient Access Specialist is "the face" of Holland Hospital. Patient Access Specialist will gather registration information through interview with the patient or the patients representative, following appropriate departmental and hospital procedures. Explains hospital and physician practice services, obtains proper signatures on consent forms, collects co-pays and payments on account in accordance with Holland Hospital policies. Verifies patient insurance information, explains benefits to patients using software specific for that function and performs order entry in the clinical information system. Additional duties as assigned may include but are not limited to; patient way-finding, answering the phone, eSign-In process, sending faxes, scheduling appointments, patient screening.

Minimum Education/Training: High School or equivalent education.

Registration/Certification or License Required:

Preferred Education: Higher level of education.

Preferred Experience: Prior hospital or physician office registration experience. Strong proven customer relations skills.

Physical Requirements: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs. Push/pull 50 - 100 lbs. (ie empty bed, stretcher) Frequent sitting, standing, walking. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling. Continuous keyboard use. Continuous talking, hearing.

Other Requirements: Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong aptitude for accuracy and speed. Communicates effectively with a wide variety of personalities. Exemplary customer service skills in a teamwork environment maintaining strict patient confidentiality. Familiar with Microsoft Office. Ability to represent the organization and create a positive first impression.
