Henry Ford Health System Cardiac Diagnostic Technician - Full time Day Shift - West Bloomfield Hospital in West Bloomfield, Michigan
Under general supervision assists physicians / Ph.D.s/ nurses with the preparation and testing of a variety of cardiac diagnostic procedures. Prepares and operates cardiac monitoring equipment. Provides health screening, patient motivation, and education for patients as directed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Non-Invasive Lab, Trans-telephonic Lab
Assists physicians and nurses with the preparation and execution of a variety of cardiac diagnostic procedures. Includes form completion and data entry as necessary.
Obtains verbal medical history, risk factor stratification, medication list and patient's complaint. Obtains signed consent and explains tests and discharge instructions.
Assesses physical limitations of patients to insure that a safe proper procedure is performed. Determines proper location of 12 lead electrodes, prepares skin for placement and attaches electrodes.
Prepares intravenous set-up for insertion. May initiate intravenous access for nurses when necessary based on approved protocols.
Obtains blood pressures, heart rates, and electrocardiograms as needed during various procedures. Monitors for any abnormalities pre-procedure, during procedure, and post procedure.
Completion of Associate's degree in Cardiology, Biomedical, or Radiology Technology or the equivalent experience.
Physical ability (unrestricted) required to:
oProperly lift and transfer patients from beds and chairs to exam tables. Push 70+ pound equipment to and from units.
oConduct exercise programs consisting of walking, jogging, swimming, etc.
