Munson Medical Center Practice Administrator - Traverse Heart & Vascular in Traverse City, Michigan
Munson Medical Group seeks a Practice Administrator for Traverse Heart & Vascular. Five years of practice management experience required. Experience with practice management at a cardiology practice strongly preferred.
SUMMARY This leadership position will manage the overall operations of an integrated multi-site practice, including business and clinical leadership, managing finances, personnel and resources. Provides expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. Develops strategic and operating plans and policy statements for JCC review. Provides data analysis to assess practice performance. Represents the practice with external health care entities and other groups in the business transactions of the practice.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Knowledge of business office management and analytical skills normally acquired by completing a Bachelor's degree in health care administration, human resources, business administration or closely related field. Master's degree in health administration or business administration preferred. A minimum of five (5) years direct management experience in a multi-provider medical office/hospital, cardiology specialty preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills required. Demonstrated ability to establish collegial relationships with physicians is required. Experience working within a health system environment preferred. Demonstrated entrepreneurship and creativity in problem solving. Demonstrated understanding of health care finance, statistics and data management is preferred.

Develop strategic and operating plans to guide the growth and development of the practice in the short-term (1-2 years) and the long term (5 years).
Lead planning and implementation for all projects on behalf of the partnership, including development of new sites of services and contracting.
Research, identify and recommend to the JCC new opportunities to enhance the practice; evaluate opportunities proposed by others for their impact on the practice.
Oversee outreach efforts and initiatives, including establishing new locations and expansion.
Anticipate issues that may have a major impact on the practice; analyze problems and present solutions to the JCC.
Represent the Practice in dealing with external groups, including other health care providers, hospitals, insurers, employers and community groups.
Provide administrative representation for the Practice with other joint venture or collaborative activities.
Serve as primary representative for the Practice in dealing with external consultants for accounting, legal, financial and other matters; select and evaluate consultants as appropriate.
Participate in local civic organizations to build the image of the Practice.
Provide leadership to the management team of the practice; maintain a constructive working environment for employees.
Ensure that the practice is compliant with the human resources policies and programs of Munson Medical Group and Munson Medical Center (if applicable).
Manage employee relations, including retention and employee satisfaction initiatives.
Provide leadership to human resource strategy, ensuring competent staff, adequate staffing ratios, and maintaining an effective, efficient organizational structure.
Monitor the financial status of the Practice, including expenditures and revenues. Supervise the preparation of an annual budget and periodic statements and projections for JCC review.
Coordinates the preparation of an annual operating and capitalization budget with detailed objectives and performance measures, and submits for administrative approval. Monitors budget adherence throughout the year to measure fiscal performance, makes appropriate adjustments and recommendations.
Facilitates office participation in pay for performance activities. Oversees revenue cycle activity, adhering to standard guidelines, protocols, and metrics.
Oversee management of patient accounts, including accounts receivable, processing of medical insurance claims, reimbursement levels and documentation requirements.
Work collaboratively with the Central Billing Office on fee schedule changes, as needed; maintain fee policies.
Work with Information Systems to ensure the technological needs of the practice are being met.
Review, revise and enforce standard operating procedures for non-physician personnel.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal/state legislature and accrediting bodies.
Seek out, recommend, and implement methods for improving internal efficiency in such areas as patient flow, manpower/equipment utilization, cash flow and space needs.
Oversee administrative aspects of clinical services, ensuring quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. Monitor levels of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction and ensure implementation of appropriate responses.
Assures the physical plant and grounds are well maintained.
Oversees risk management issues and provides management audits by establishing systems and procedures that will enhance patient care, confidentiality and safety.
Support physician compensation and contract development activities, as requested by the JCC.
Assist with recruitment and onboarding efforts for new physicians.
Assist with physician relation activities, serving as liaison to Munson Medical Center.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to read, speak and write fluently in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole number, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration and percent and interpret graphs.
