Mercy Medical Center Clinton St. Joseph's Village - Wellness Assistant - Contingent in St. Joseph's Village - Ypsilanti, Michigan
General responsibilities will include:
Assist residents with all activities of daily living functions such as dental care, feeding, toileting, bathing, dressing/undressing, nail care, hair care, and shaving according to expressed preferences and resident service plan. Escort residents to and from meals, activities, etc.
Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transferring residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., utilizing one-person assist, sit to stand lift or hoyer-type lift as identified in the resident service plan.
Assist in the dining process, serving residents their meals and providing direct feeding assistance.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the community to assure that daily activities can be performed without interruptions.
Check residents routinely to ensure that they’re safe and that their personal needs are met.
Observes and reports to supervisor the residents physical and emotional responses to service treatments and medications or any changes in resident condition.
Anticipate and respond to resident needs, alarms and requests for assistance promptly to determine need and help when possible.
Cleans equipment, closets, drawers, beds and other resident living spaces as needed. Candidates will have:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Six months experience as a Wellness Assistant or Nurse Aide preferred.
Previous experience working in assisted living with the geriatric population or previous dementia care experience preferred.
Must possess superior customer service skills and professionalism.
Ability to adapt to ongoing change and work in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
Possesses interpersonal and relationship building skills to work in a cross-functional team as well as the ability to work with residents based on their cognitive ability.
Possesses a high degree of personal accountability, responsibility and strong decision making abilities.
