War Memorial Hospital EKG Technician in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan

Under the direction of the Cardiopulmonary Director, through training and knowledge the technician is mainly responsible for technical and patient care functions related to cardiology such as EKGs, holter monitors, stress testing, and EEG. Provides necessary clerical support to ensure timely and accurate scheduling, charging, logging, copying, distribution and retention of testing date. May be responsible for crosstraining to other areas of Cardiology Services.
Associate degree or equivalent in health or science related preferred.
Nationally Certified in EKG required.
If there are no applicants who are nationally certified, the order of awarding a training position would be as follows:
A. An applicant who is working towards the National Certification in EKG; the applicant must become certified within two years.
B. If there is no applicant who is working towards the National Certification in EKG, he/she must become certified within two years of being awarded the position.
Previous experience in Cardiology preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people.
Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Required lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds.
