Leads and coordinates activities of section Associates. Also participates in the perform of laboratory procedures that fall within the range of the section. Provides quality patient care considering age specific, developmental and cultural needs. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies.

There is an opportunity for a Patient Services Rep to join the Laboratory Administration Department.

POSITION PURPOSE

Collaborate with Patient Financial Services via email to resolve all lab related revenue issues. Communicate with Data Integrity verifying provider information and correcting any lab issues. Responsible for working with the lab Marketing Team for resolution, documentation and follow up on all outpatient lab testing problems. Initiates billing and rebilling of accounts as appropriate. Working off various lab revenue error reports. Codes charges in conjunction with physician and coding guidelines using ICD-10.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs patient registration without patient contact. Initiates needs for any Advance Beneficiary Notice issues and places the patient's account on hold in Patient Accounting if necessary.

  • Coding of Anatomic Pathology professional fees using ICD-10 coding guidelines.

  • Initiates charges in Patient Accounting or Lab HIS system initiated from Error Revenue Reports

  • Collaborating with lab Marketing Team to document lab issues and resolution. Communicate appropriate follow-up with patient and/or physicians' offices.

  • Able to resolve revenue data from various sources including but not limited to: various audits in place and Error Correction Report.

  • Various quality assurance reports

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 6-12 months of billing experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated computerized system application experience

  • Analytical ability affective and efficiently resolve registration and insurance processing issues

  • Exceptional customer service skills and positive personality attributes

  • Knowledge of general laboratory processes

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Maintain good rapport with peers, staff and customers

  • Communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing while maintaining professional mannerisms

  • Ability to function well under pressure and to consistently prioritize multiple tasks

  • Ability to ensure accuracy in relation to data entry and manual records
