This position will be required to monitor patients and provide basic patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Nursing Care Assistant Monitoring Tech may be assigned patients to provide continuous observation and surveillance, including virtual monitoring for patient safety utilizing the Avasys system. This will include monitoring up to 15 patients on one screen at one time. This position will be required to communicate effectively through verbal inventions with patients and caregivers. Demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation./bb/bbResponsibilities:br/bbMonitors up to 15 patients on one screen at one time utilizing the Avasys system./bbCommunicates effectively with patients and caregivers using a microphone headset./bbCommunicates with nursing staff effectively and immediately when identified need is present./bbPerforms periodic safety checks/rounds as assigned./bbDocuments patient care observations and interventions in a clear, timely manner while following all established policies./bbParticipates in cost containment efforts through efficient use of supplies, services, and time management./bbAdheres to unit/department budgetary practices./bbSupports the organizations patient flow efforts through compliance to unit and Patient Services policies./bbRemains flexible in cooperation with 24-hour staffing patterns and scheduling needs for provision of care in all inpatient units./bbCommunicates with patients and families in a professional, therapeutic, and courteous manner./bbHas clinical and social contact with patients, including all age groups, and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare./bbAssists with simple procedures and follows standard precautions./bbPerforms vital signs, measures height, weight, head circumference and other data as requested./bbAssists with feeding, collects urine and stool specimens, measures Foley and NG and wound drainage output./bbBathes patients, changes occupied and unoccupied beds, performs dressing and gowning and skin care./bbPerforms safety checks to include restraints, falls, and suicide precautions./bbAmbulates, transports and positions patients with proper body mechanics, applying or utilizing special equipment as necessary./bbProvides diversion activities, comforts and supports patients and their family members./bbAssists the patient and family in learning appropriate self-care techniques within the scope of the Nursing Care Assistant.
