div divdivGENERAL SUMMARY:The Electrodiagnostic Technologist II has passed the examination by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) and proven competencies to obtain a credential in electroencephalography (R. EEG T.). The Electrodiagnostic II has a minimum of three years' experience in performing electroencephalograpy. The Electrodiagnosic II provides neurodiagnostic tests for results and a descriptive analysis according to facility and policy and procedures. Strong well-developed communication skills are essential for this position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:1.Performs neurodiagnostic tests in Outpatient and Inpatient settings including all patient floors and /or EMU according to American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) Guidelines on patients of all age groups (Adult and Pediatric-Site Specific), hospital, and department standards.2* Routine Electroencephalogram (EEG)* Ambulatory Electroencephalogram* Continuous Electroencephalogram (CEM) Long-Term Video Electroencephalogram* Evoked Potentials (Visual, Upper and Lower Somatosensory)* EOG and ERG (Electrooculography, Electroretinography)3. Ensures electrode application in adherence with the International 10-20 System; is knowledgeable in correct EEG performance and recognition of clinically significant events and follows facility policy and procedures regarding critical test results; maintains the patient's safety through communication to other patient care support staff during the EEG if needed; continues to learn and apply basic and intermediate EEG waveform recognition, relevant terminology, anatomy, physiology , infection control, current HIPPA practices, contraindication for activation procedures, instrumentation and preparation for use; performs patient assessment as related to care such as electrode fixationproduct allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function; knows and recognizes drug and physiological status effects on activity monitored.4. Eligible to train and be competent to perform advanced neurodiagnostics; testing for epilepsy surgery- ICTAL EEG, Phase II Intracranial Monitoring, Cortical Stimulation, WADA, and Electromyogram.5. Completion of testing for reports, charging procedures, contacts supervisory staff as appropriate for problems within the EEG unit, stocks supplies, prepares patient rooms, and any other related duties that are consistent with patient and technical care for this level.6. After hour call coverage required (Site Specific).7. Be preceptors and provide education to train staff and students. Provide on-line graphic analysis and technical impression of test results.8. Provide appropriate patient care and detailed observation of clinical manifestations during emergent situations.9. Trouble-shootingroblem solving and offer solutions.10. Follows department policies and procedures.STANDARD QUALIFICATIONSHigh School graduate or equivalent. Graduation from Electroneurodiagnostic program preferred.Three or more years of experience in clinical EEG testing. Clinical training in a large hospital with various specialties including Neurology, Pediatrics, ICU, and CCU.Basic Life Support, EEG Technology Registry, R. EEG T. Evoked Potential and/or Long-Term Monitor (CLTM) Registry preferred.Knowledge of EEG patterns and maturation changes.
