Beaumont Health has openings for Biomedical Equipment Technicians at multiple campuses. These range from a BMETI to a BMETIII based on experience. GENERAL SUMMARY: Repairs, installs, and performs preventive maintenance, performance assurance, pre-purchase evaluation, incoming inspection and calibration of medical equipment and systems. Performs varied clinical engineering functions such as technology management and technical consulting. Provides expertise to minimize equipment downtime. Must be willing and able to periodically travel locally to assist in team efforts to complete maintenance activities health system-wide. This position reports to the Manger, Biomedical Engineering (Mgr, BMET). ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs electronic, electrical, and mechanical repairs/corrective maintenance of medical equipment including specialized physiological life support and non-life support medical equipment in a timely and quality manner to assure equipment readiness for department use. Coordinates repairs with vendor and department as needed. Performs scheduled maintenance on various types of medical equipment and systems including specialized systems. Adherence to scheduled maintenance schedule to allow for optimum use and dependability of equipment by employees and medical staff in a safe environment for patients. Assures that required PM's are done in compliance with established job plans and procedures. Performs equipment evaluation, contributes to technology assessment, technical consultation and in-servicing of patient related equipment. Attends meetings, seminars, in-services and provides data management to assure accuracy in our equipment database and assists in capital asset management with customer departments and performs project work. Provides assistance from pre-purchase evaluation through capital asset disposal. Performs installations, incoming inspections, and coordinates installations with vendors when required and validates vendor actions. Orders repair parts, manuals, recommends spares to add to inventory, maintains service documentation. Provides accurate, complete, and timely information to the computerized maintenance database. This includes accurate work order and labor reporting in addition to complete work order remarks that describe what was done to satisfy the work order. Writes preventative maintenance testing procedures as needed Models the behaviors embodied in our Mission and Values. Takes responsibility for constructively confronting and resolving problems. STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:Associate's degree in applied science biomedical engineering technology or military equivalent or associate's degree in applied science electronic technology with experience in healthcare technology. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a BMET or equivalent capacity. AAMI Credentials Institute (ACI) CBET certification preferred. Beaumont Health is an equal opportunity employer.
