Beaumont Health AMS Assistant in Royal Oak, Michigan

General Summary:

The AMS Assistant will handle clerical duties for AMS, must be able to multi-task, and handle phone calls: follow up with Home Care Agencies, laboratories and missed appointments. Will be navigating through Epic, documenting patient conversations, and documenting follow up to missed appointments calls and/or HC agencies.

Essential Duties:

? Clerical Functions-The AMS Assistant will follow up on all Home Care Agencies and Odd Lab facilities looking for recent INR results on patients. Will also be responsible for answering the telephone, returning patient calls, and calling in warfarin refills, entering lab orders into Epic and calling missed appointment reminders as needed.

? Patient Contact-The AMS Assistant will answer patient questions regarding AMS department, provide patients dosing information and return dates once the nurse has dosed the patient and document this conversation in Epic and be able to transfer patient problems, issues to the appropriate nurse or manager.

? Patient/Family Interaction-The AMS Assistant will interact in a respectful manner, considerate of the patients age and physical abilities and will take into account patients age related needs.

? Education / Training: High school diploma or GED. Medical terminology exposure beneficial. Previous Nursing Assistant or Unit Secretary Experience required.

? Work Experience: Previous patient care experience and able to navigate through Epic

? Certification, Licensure, Registration: None

? Other Qualifications:* Must have excellent telephone and communication/customer service skills, must be able to type 25 words per minute and have computer, Epic experience. Be a team player and be able to work in a constantly changing environment.*
