McLaren Health Care Nurse Assistant in Pontiac, Michigan

Description

Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse the Patient Care Associate assists patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of a RN.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with RN throughout day to accomplish any additional orders & tasks written during your shift.

  • Communicates to the RN all pertinent observations concerning the patient's physical and emotional status.

  • Intake and output throughout shift. (i.e. urine drainage device, colostomy, ileostomy, ensure hat/urinal is available for those who void, document incontinence, meal intake and oral intake.) Report any abnormal findings to nurse i.e. emesis, low urine output, no bowel movement.

  • Obtains and documents vital signs.

  • Documents nursing care given properly to patients.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant or patient care assistant program OR completion of one semester of clinical at an accredited associate or bachelor degree nursing program.

  • Required to maintain current BCLS certification.
