Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated Sr. Development Engineer to lead several opto-electrical engineering projects for our location. The ideal candidate will have experience as a development engineer in the field of optics, sensors, and light sources.

Responsibilities include:

  • Electrical, optical (and some mechanical) design of precision laser beam delivery systems and associated sensor for feedback process control

  • Troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis for prototype development as well as production systems

Education and Work Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in physics or equivalent, preferably in optics or lasers

  • 7+ years of work experience in components design and assembly, laser development, or relevant area of photonics in an industrial R&D environment

  • Experience with design and modeling software – (SolidWorks, Zemax, MatLab, Altium or similar)

  • Experience using OneNote, Microsoft Office, Oracle, or similar software

Desired Qualifications:

  • PhD in physics or equivalent, preferably in optics or lasers

  • Project management experience with ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Familiarity with Mechanical design concepts

  • Expertise in complex Optical design and prototype assembly

  • Comfortable with high power/energy lasers (good understanding of physics and hands on in laser characterization

  • Understanding and hands-on experience in optics lab

  • Familiarity with tools including but not limited to: photo detectors, oscilloscope, pulse generators and microscopes
