Supervises the providing of support to patients, their families and office staff. Supervises medical assistant personnel. Assists physicians and other ancillary/administrative staff with patients; examinations, procedures, necessary education, and medical coordination
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs various positions throughout practice site to ensure smooth operation, including medical assistant duties.
Assists the physicians and nurses as needed.
Maintains work schedules and time off for personnel, payroll functions and provides coverage for fill in, when necessary.
Performs any duties assigned by the Office Manager and/or Operations Manager.
Identifies training needs and oversees the development of personnel. Evaluates job performance.
Participates in the formulation of policies.
Ensures that clinic policies are followed and keeps staff advised of any new policies or changes.
Oversees the maintenance of equipment. Orders and stocks supplies and equipment.
Monitors the patient care provided by all medical assistant employees ensuring all care is properly coordinated and provided efficiently.
Attends supervisory meetings and other meetings as necessary.
Complete provider on-call schedule monthly.
Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a recognized medical assistant program, or 2 (two) years previous experience in the medical field as a medical assistant, or related position.
• Previous experience working with computers.
• Associate Degree in business or related field.
• 4 years previous experience in the medical field.
• 2 years previous supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must possess general clerical and typing skills and ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Demonstrable organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Position Specific Expectations:
Deals with highly confidential patient information.
Must be able to train staff, maintain a professional attitude and set an example for staff at all times.
Trained and educated in age-specific categories being served: infant, pediatric, adolescent and adult.
Must utilize excellent customer relation skills at all times.
Participates in hospital and /or departmental quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities as directed; through identification of quality improvement opportunities, goal setting, collection and evaluation of data, implementation of action
plans, or related applications.
Able to assess and take measures to improve patient safety.
Able to assess pain and properly document in patient record along with other vitals.
