uJOB SUMMARY/u Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager and Practice Supervisor, will be responsible for all aspects of checking patient in and/or out, making follow-up appointments, referrals and processing financial transactions. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care. uPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/u ol liOpen office (unlock doors, turn on all equipment, etc.)./li liDisconnect Answering Service, obtain and facilitate any messages from the service./li liAnswer telephone in a timely manner./li liTake messages and give them to appropriate person within 30 minutes of receiving the message./li liCheck the automated patient reminder system and call all patients the day before their appointment if they have not confirmed their appointment./li liGreet all patients and vendors in a friendly and professional manner./li liAssist patients to get them signed in for their appointment are acknowledged for demographic and insurance changes. Update patient information changes in the computerubefore/uacknowledging patient for their appointment. Scan insurance cards and HIPAA documents into the EMR system./li liProvide patients with Medicare and Medicaid insurance with all Provider Based Billing requirements and obtain necessary signatures. Scan signed documents into the EMR system./li liVerify, obtain and update any necessary insurance authorization making certain that patients are not seen with proper authorization./li liScan all patient medical record information into the EMR system as assigned./li liSchedule patient appointments./li liProcess patient discharges upon approval and according to MHC policy./li liComply with and participate with Quality programs including telephone communication and documentation./li liProvide clear and concise documentation in the EMR system./li liMaintain cleanliness of waiting room. Straighten and pick up the waiting room a minimum of two times per day./li liVerify and update daily transactions in the computer by the end of the same business day./li liBalance out the credit card terminal at the end of each business day and run a detail transaction report./li liMonitor, maintain and order all office supplies. Place all orders via MMA operating instructions./li liMaintain Providersrsquo; meeting schedule and days off in the computer./li liFacilitate all daily office mail. Take mail to and from the mail box. Open and date stamp all mail. Deliver mail to the appropriate person./li liProcess release of medical records requests in manner established by MMA./li liMaintain, balance and request reimbursement of office petty cash according to established policy./li liWork scheduled hours as assigned by Practice Manager utilizing Time and Attendance system to maintain hours worked for the Payroll Department./li liDemonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior./li liDemonstrates specialized skill in clerical responsibilities for Specialty Practice/li liDemonstrates understanding of advanced skills for scheduling an
