Memorial Health Care Center Manager of Professional Coding in Owosso, Michigan
Oversee the Memorial Medical Associates Coding Department. Responsible for daily operations, management, financial data reports, the implementation of procedures for coding, and further growth in the area with the medical practices. Ensures optimum reimbursement for Physician Services through accurate and timely coding of all inpatient and outpatient professional services. As a customer-focused team member, he/she must be accessible, flexible, knowledgeable and responsive. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the daily functions of the Professional Coding Department.
Oversee Coding Specialists and CDI.
Ensures timely coding, with complete and accurate documentation.
Monitor open and missing encounters while working with MMA managers and MMA directors of practice management.
Monitor daily imports and assign them to coders to process in a timely manner.
Actively involved in daily problem solving, workload balancing, resolving workflow obstacles and interacting with dissatisfied internal customers.
Develop, implement and execute CDI specialist responsibilities
Manages, evaluates and develops the workflows/ processes of the professional procedural coding function.
Formulate month end reports, which outline productivity of the department.
Make coding recommendations to maximize reimbursement.
Meet with the providers quarterly to discuss coding concerns.
Prepare the department’s annual capital operating expense and revenue budget.
Oversee communications with Expanse to resolve open problems, issues and requests.
Ensure timely completion of month end processes and reports for the department.
Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

DEPARTMENTAL AND ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for staff performance evaluations, productivity, daily time and attendance and staffing issues.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
Able to work as a multidisciplinary staff member in the department.
Ability to identify departmental needs.
Participates in organization-wide quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as directed.
Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent to eight years management experience.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Eight years of professional experience required in management and physician billing and coding.
Certified through American Academy of Professional Coders or will complete Certified Professional Coder Certification within six months.
Complete knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding procedures.
Current knowledge of, or willingness and ability to learn, guidelines for Medicare, BCBS, Medicaid and Managed Care along with other commercial insurances, Workmen's Compensation Policies and procedures.
Knowledge of current billing issues and legislation.
Knowledge of computerized medical and management software systems.
Knowledge of PC Spreadsheet Software.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).
