Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room/Surgery, Peri-Operative Training Program
This Position would start in alignment with the Peri-Op Training Program which is set to beginning end of March 2021.

The perioperative internship program is an intense 6-9 month orientation in which nurses are trained to work in the operating room following American Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) guidelines. The first month consists of didactic classroom learning and testing. Upon completion of the AORN exam, the interns are then placed in the clinical setting. Requirements: 1 year RN experience preferred and a BLS. Upon acceptance into the program, interns will be required to commit to 2 ½ years of full-time employment within St. John Providence.

What You Will Do
Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
One or more of the following required:
Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. Any issuing authority accepted.
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
- RN experience preferred.
