General Information: Helen Newberry Joy Hospital is seeking a highly competent and motivated individual to serve as Laboratory Specimen Processor/Phlebotomist. On the job training will be provided for the right candidate.

Position: Laboratory Specimen Processor/Phlebotomist

Job Status: Contingent; Varied Hours; Varied Shifts. Full time hours for the first 90 days during training period. Upon completion of training, position will have scheduled hours.

Salary: Hourly $12.99 - $15.13 (non-certified) $15.20 - $18.09 (certified)

Required Skills:

  • Strong ability to work independently

  • Accurate and precise performance of laboratory procedures

  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service

  • Ability to multitask necessary

  • Strong Computer skills


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of phlebotomy program or prior phlebotomy experience (not required will train on-site)

  • BLS preferred

What you will do.

  • Prepare specimens for testing, analysis or shipment to external laboratories. Collect blood specimens from patients following established procedures.

  • Perform data entry and track specimens. Record daily information in required laboratory electronic logs and perform audits.

  • Maintain specimen handling and testing supplies.

  • Perform proper disposal of specimens.
