Our Livonia Distribution Center, a 400,000 sq. ft. refrigerated facility operating 24/7, is currently seeking aLaboratory Tech IIto join the Food Safety and Quality team. In this role you will assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive corporate Microbiology Program.Full Time Day Shift- Monday-Friday; 8:30a-5:30pPrimary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:ulliAssists with the development, implementation and maintenance of facility-wide comprehensive Microbiology Program/liliEffectively and efficiently run a microbiology laboratory during the absence of the Microbiologist: maintain lab supply, equipment inventory, set media prep, swabbing, sample taking, sample preparation, incubation, testing, data input, report writing schedules, submit COArsquo;s, train new employees, etc./liliResponsible for the maintenance of all Automated Equipment and must report to work to resolve issues during failures and malfunctions/liliInput, develop and maintain laboratory databases and provide reports and analysis for management as needed/liliAssist with the establishment, implementation and maintenance of Microbiology Laboratory to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 International Standard/liliServes as Technical Manager and Quality Manager Deputy for MPL Laboratory during the absence of the Microbiologist/liliMaintain GLP Manual and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 program as continuously updated/liliDedicate self to providing quality test results that comply with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 International Standard, our customersrsquo; needs and government requirements/liliAssist with the establishment and maintenance of testing for incoming raw and outbound finished products/liliAssist with the establishment and maintenance of microbiology programs for environmental testing (air, water, equipment)/liliAssist with the establishment and maintenance of microbiology programs for testing of packaging materials/liliAssist with the establishment and maintenance of microbiology programs for validation of Sanitation Program by monitoring of cleaned surfaces and ATP (Bioluminescence) testing/liliProvide testing of products and samples from other operations in Canada and US/liliAssist with management of Test-Hold-Release Program, and reporting of results to Management/liliMaintain laboratory cleanliness to avoid cross-contamination of samples and the environment/liliMaintain a highly professional audit inspection-ready environment that can viewed without prior notice/liliLiaise with Food Safety, Sanitation and Operations Management and provide guidance and support on microbial issues with specific regard to validate Food-Safety Programs and verify Sanitation Programs as needed/liliDiscover root-cause source of bacterial problems and provides / assists in monitoring and corrective actions and establishment of preventative measures/liliAssists with customer complaints around microbial issues or issues of spoilage/liliContinuously research, identify and evaluate best practices, and establish new resources, tools and methodologies to maximize effectiveness of the Microbiology Program/li/ulKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:ulliBachelorrsquo;s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science (biology, chemistry etc.), agriculture or another related field is REQUIRED/liliCertification in Microbiology is preferred/liliMinimum of 3-5 years of work experience in food manufacturing, food inspection (USDA) or agricultural related job/liliMinimum of one to two (1 - 2) years of work e
