McLaren Health Care Sonographer Vascular Reg in Lansing, Michigan
Performs high quality vascular ultrasound
procedures that require ingenuity, initiative and independent judgment on
patients. Performs Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI's with and without exercise), carotid
and abdominal aorta duplex scans, upper and lower extremity arterial &
venous scans (Doppler and imaging) and groin scans. Follows department policies
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Specializes in performing vascular ultrasounddiagnostic studies.
Obtains patient history,explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns tofoster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needsof individual patients are met.
Operates and maintains all assigned ultrasoundscanning equipment to ensure it works properly.
Positions patients, selects appropriatetransducers and machine settings and conducts scanning procedures tocorrectly capture the images requested by a physician.
Completes quality assurance processes and practices.Complies with all Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatorylaws, standards, and protocols.
Maintains all required documentation, logs,charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
Maintains an adequate supply of all consumablesto perform quality testing.
Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, andperiodic maintenance and function checks following established protocolfor all imaging equipment.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge byattending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications;establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Performs other related duties as required anddirected.
High school diploma or GED.
Registered Vascular Technologist through the (RDMS) AmericanRegistry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT) and/or a Registered VascularSonographer through the (ARRT)American Registry of Radiologic Technologists –RT(VS).
or- Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular sonographer trainingprogram (1-4 years) must be registry eligible and attain certification withinone year.
or- Graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) with1 full additional year of full-time clinical experience in a dedicatedechocardiography laboratory and registry eligible and attain certificationwithin one year.
or- Two years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences with twoyears experience in a dedicated echocardiography laboratory and registryeligible and attain certification within one year.
Current BLS certification.
