McLaren Health Care Mgr Patient Care Services in Lansing, Michigan
Has responsibility for 24-hour accountability for themanagement of a Intensive Care unit. In this capacity, will
accomplish the mission and vision of McLaren Greater Lansing through effective
utilization of all resources, constantly striving to increase quality patient
care and maintain a high degree of patient satisfaction.
EssentialFunctions and Responsibilities:
Ensuresa process is in place for the establishment of standards of performance,quality improvement and care delivery model for their areas ofresponsibility.Monitors the process toensure it is working.
Solvesproblems related to the functioning of the department, both interdepartmentaland intradepartmental. Involves staff in this process.Ensures process moves to desirableoutcome.Delegates to Patient CareCoordinator as appropriate.
Allaspects of personnel management of department employees.Demonstrates collaborative interpersonal andcommunication skills.Facilitates highperformance from staff.
Determinesand coordinates departmental needs and operations regarding schedules andstaffing patterns. Responsible for establishing and meeting productivitybenchmarks.
Develops,interprets, administers and communicates department policies, procedures,protocols and regulations.
Analyses,plans, forecasts and reports department activities.
Develops,coordinates, implements and justifies the department’s budget.Displays knowledge and action plan to ensurecost effectiveness.
Maintainsand enhances communication channels.
Implements,promotes and reinforces employee performance relating to patient satisfaction.
Participatesas requested on service line committees.
Communicateswith and mentors staff representatives on committees. Supports and facilitatesstaff involvement in meeting attendance.
Collaborateswith physicians and other healthcare team members.
Ensuresthat all evaluations and competencies are current. Reviews content of evaluationsif not completed by Patient Care Services Manager.
Maintainscompliance with all required accreditation standards.
Reviewspatient satisfaction feedback on a regular basis and develops a plan to addressissues and improve overall rating.
Ensuresthat a quality improvement and education plan are in place for units.
Demonstratesunit ownership through maintenance, cleanliness and lack of clutter of unit.
Investigatesand identifies department capital needs, presents formal request andjustification to Director or Vice President of Nursing/CNO.
Networkswith other managers and remains current in new advancements and changes inpatient treatments and technologies.
Facilitatesand promotes opportunities for the professional development of staff.
Identifiesand works towards own professional growth.
Maintains/developsbasic competencies for the patient population of their unit, ensuring thestandard of care is met.
Cooperatesas a member of the management team.Advocates system goals, programs and image.
Cooperateswith other education and service agencies in meeting the health care needs ofthe community.
Performsother related duties as assigned.
Bachelor degree from an accredited school of nursing (BSN) or Bachelor of Science (BS). (Associate degree /diploma in nursing may be considered with five or more years of relevant experience. Must complete BSN or BS within 3 to 5 years from date of hire.)
Licensed registered nurse in the State of Michigan.
American Heart Association BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross equivalent.
Demonstrated management potential or middle management experience.
Preferred: Master Degree in Nursing or related field.
