The RN – Vascular Access provides technical/clinical care to patients as a member of a unit-based collaborative team coordinated by the Registered Nurse. The RN – Vascular Access accomplishes access with minimal need for additional attempts, coordinates IV access with blood draws, prepares patient for IV access and educates patient regarding device placed; documents into medical record, follows appropriate infection prevention control guidelines, assists unit staff in troubleshooting device, and serves as a resource for education and information relevant to PICC and mid lines.
Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within 3 years of hire
Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 5 years of hire
Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to problem-solve
Critical thinking skills and judgment necessary to assign and direct others in the delivery of patient care
Knowledge about the care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
Exceptional customer service skills
Basic computer knowledge
Current Michigan Nursing license
Current BLS or obtained during Patient Care Orientation
IV Therapy experience
