Henry Ford Health System Part-Time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Dermatology (JACKSON, MI) in Jackson, Michigan

Position Summary:

Advanced Practice Professional (Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician Assistant is to provide and coordinate exceptional patient care in collaboration with all members of the health care team and provide leadership. Our experienced and caring professionals offer a complete range of medical dermatology services, from skin cancer prevention, detection and treatment to individualized therapies for conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, vitiligo, skin allergies and rashes. Treatments are also available for nail infections, hair loss and excessive hair growth.


100% Outpatient

90% Adult case load; 10% pediatrics

Average # clinic patients see per day: 34

NO OR Time

Procedures that may be performed include simple skin tag removals to skin cancer biopsies.

The team is skilled in cosmetic dermatology s well, using the latest technologies. Including;

    Functional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and provides direct patient care to dermatology patients according to medicine principles and practices

  • Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide other staff toward achievement of unit goals

  • Assists the manager in unit operations and allocation and management of resources

  • Keeps abreast of current research and standards of care to enhance and broaden the scope of clinical practice for colleagues and customers

GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff. Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders and interprets tests, makes diagnoses and institutes appropriate treatment programs. Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved in a safe and efficient manner. Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Requires Bachelor's Degree; completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program; Michigan state licensure; and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).


  • Current Michigan Nursing license or certification as Physician Assistant in state of Michigan, MSN and licensed as Nurse Practitioner or bachelor’s degree or Masters’ Degree in Medicine as PA/NP

  • BLS

  • Dermatology experience, REQUIRED

  • Ability to problem solve, and effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Possess strong differential diagnosis, pharmacology and prescribing practice for critical thinking, advanced knowledge of physical assessment of prenatal, neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients

  • Physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting to 50 pounds
