Holland Hospital Phlebotomist Patient Access- COVID Collection Clinic in Holland, Michigan
Holland Hospital Laboratory Services provides 24/7 laboratory service to over twenty thousand patients per month. Services are provided to a full spectrum of patients from those receiving emergency or critical care, to patients who are homebound or are residents of skilled nursing facilities, to fully ambulatory, relatively healthy outpatients. Members of the laboratory team include Phlebotomists who receive on the job training and collect samples, Specimen Processors that help prepare samples for testing and degreed positions including Cytotechs, Histotechs and Medical Laboratory Scientists who have all had a combination of 2-4 years of college and a period of clinical internship.
The Phlebotomist Patient Access works under the general supervision of the Pre-Analytical Services Manager and serves as an integral member of the Laboratory department. The Phlebotomist Patient Access demonstrates exemplary customer service skills and clearly understands their role as the "face of the laboratory and Holland Hospital." The Phlebotomist Patient Access accurately performs patient registration including the gathering and input of payer information and use of verification software. The Phlebotomist Patient Access is responsible for placing laboratory orders into the hospital information system, the collection and submission of samples, and facilitating the flow of specimens and specimen requirement information following appropriate departmental and hospital procedures.
Minimum Education/Training: High School or equivalent education.
Registration/Certification or License Required: Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider or completed within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Education: Phlebotomy Certification/Diploma Medical Assistant License. Some college course work. Advanced training in analytical processes and information systems.
Preferred Experience: 1-2 years Phlebotomy or support position, plus experience in hospital and or/independent laboratory setting. Prior hospital or physician registration experience. Demonstrated multi-tasking in a healthcare or office setting. Customer service delivery in a fast paced setting.
Physical Requirements: Lift and Carry 15-10 lbs. Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher) Occasional reaching overhead. Frequent sitting, standing, walking. Frequent squatting, kneeling. Continuous twisting, bending, reaching forward. Continuous keyboard use. Continuous talking, hearing.
Other Requirements: Strong computer user literacy. Knowledge of medical terminology. Must have a valid driver's license. Strong proven customer relations skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
