This position reports to the Supervisor, Patient Transportation. /spanspan/spanbspan/span/bbspanEssential Duties:/span/bspan /spanspan/spanspanspan1.span /span/span/spanspanPracticing safe lifting and techniques, transports patients by assisting patients in and out of cars, lifting patients on and off beds, moving patients to and from special services and treatment areas using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds./spanspanspan2.span /span/span/spanspanTransports medications, patient charts, specimens, and blood appropriately as directed. /spanspanspan3.span /span/span/spanspanTransports bodies to the morgue and assists in placing them in the cooler. Assists in moving bodies to the autopsy table. /spanspanspan4.span /span/span/spanspanUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities provided. /spanspan/spanbspanStandard Qualifications/span/bbspan/span/bspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanHigh School diploma or GED./spanspan/spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanExperience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment is desired. Requires successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training. /spanspan/spanspanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanSuccessful completion of the Healthcare Provider Course is required. /span/spanspanspan/span/spanspanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanRequires basic keyboarding skills and demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office software (MS Word), ability to become familiar with hospital information./span/spanspanspan/span/spanspanspan/span/spanspan/spanuspanOther Qualifications/span/uspan: /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanUnderstands and demonstrates /spanspansafe lifting and transport techniques. /spanspan/spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanKnows and practices Universal Precautions as appropriate./spanspan/spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanRequires demonstrated communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy and professionalism in daily interaction with patients, their families, clinical licensed and non-licensed staff, physicians and management. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanAbility to understand and follow directions, ability to comply with HIPAA confidentiality requirements./spanspangt
