Henry Ford Health System Anesthesia Tech-Full Time, Grosse Pointe Farms in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan
Under general supervision from medical personnel stocks and maintains supplies, equipment and drugs for the anesthesia providers. Prepares the operating rooms and performs routine laboratory testing and equipment maintenance. Assists physicians and nurses as needed during Operating Room emergencies.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stocks and maintains anesthesia supplies and drugs in the anesthesia carts, anesthesia workroom, Pre-op Holding area, Same Day Surgical Hold area, and operating rooms.
Prepares set-up of operating rooms to include; selection and placement of instruments, preparation of all intravenous and pressure line systems, checking all necessary equipment for proper functioning.
Maintains, cleans, and prepares for reprocessing, anesthesia related equipment.
Cleans and wraps ambu bags. Assures availability of Ambu bags, Oxygen tanks, cardiac output machines and other necessary equipment in the O.R.
- Routinely calibrates the laboratory equipment used for Anesthesia Services. Collects and sends blood samples to appropriate labs.
Operates laboratory equipment to obtain chemistry and blood test results (hematocrit, glucose, sodium, potassium, calcium and thromboelastogram). Reports these results to the MDA or CRNA.
Delivers blood for transfusion to the anesthesia providers necessary, during organ transplants and other major procedures.
Cleans and stocks anesthesia machines and ventilators and checks availability of all anesthesia related equipment.
Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment and makes minor repairs as needed. Notifies the workroom Leader or Bioengineering of necessary repairs of equipment.
Maintains a clean and organized workroom.
Responds to requests for assistance by MDA/CRNA and during Blue Alerts and other emergency calls.
Completes anesthesia billing memorandums.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and required.
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Previous experience in patient care environment preferred.
Previous experience in equipment repair is preferred.
Verbal and interpersonal communication skills required to interact with other members of health care team.
Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies and equipment. Walking and standing for long periods required.
Successful completion of 120-day introductory period required to achieve knowledge of policies relative to job duties and patient care unit.
BCLS highly desirable.
