Maintains responsibility for preparation of the cardiac, vascular and transplant surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, making appropriate responses as needed. Is responsible for maintaining advanced, in-depth knowledge of vascular, cardiac and transplant procedures both pediatric and adult surgical procedures and principles related to those procedures. Integrates services with cath lab staff for procedures requiring expertise in both cath lab procedures and surgical cardiac procedures. Serves as member of the CV/PV team and be available to take team specific call for urgent/emergent cardiac, vascular and transplant cases.
Education - Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent Equivalent training includes the military with at least two years of recent experience or current LPN staff who are currently working under the Surgical Technologist job description
Successful completion of Cardio-Thoracic/Vascular orientation program
Experience - 1 year of relevant experience in as a surgical technologist or 6 months CVT (cardio-thoracic/vascular/transplant) surgical technologist experience
Surgical Tech – Certified (SURG TECH) 1 Year Or
Licensed Practical Nurse in MI (LPN) 1 Year
Basic Life Support (BLS) 90 Days
Education - Associate's Degree or equivalent
