What does this team do?

Our Team serves the providers and clinicians delivering direct patient care. We support the Epic electronic health record system used to document the events of a patient visit. Our efforts help streamline daily tasks in support of the One Patient Story, standardized care initiatives and recording of up-to-date clinical records.

How does this team describe its culture?

We are a newly formed team as of October 2018. We are still discovering and developing our team culture. We aspire to be a collaborative and interactive team. Generally our work is fast paced and we interact with other teams and end users to get our work done.

What significant project(s) might take place during this internship?

By the summer of 2019 we anticipate we will have stabilized our production applications. We will have needs for ongoing production support of "break-fix" tickets as well as delivering on a series of optimization and enhancement initiatives.

What tasks might the successful candidate perform during this internship?

Ideally, the tasks and types of work would match the intern's interests. Possible areas of work include: monitoring Service Desk queue for daily incident tickets, preparation of Excel or PowerPoint documents for projects and presentations, participation in SCRUM Sprint development sessions, run testing and validation scripts, participation in governance meetings and requirement gathering sessions.

What is the Spectrum Health Information Services (IS) Internship Program?

In addition to day-to-day tasks and team responsibilities, all summer interns participate in the IS Internship program. As part of this program, interns complete job shadowing in other departments, blog about their role and experiences, attend networking events, complete professional development opportunities, and collaborate in unique sub-teams on significant projects that are presented to Spectrum Health IS senior leadership at the conclusion of the summer. IS internships at Spectrum Health are planned each year to meet both the functional/work needs and future hiring needs of the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

Education - High School Diploma or equivalent in Currently enrolled in a university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in area of accountability May also be a recent graduate from an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program
