Provides clinical and/or administrative support in the ambulatory office setting to include: Family Practice.
Three years of experience in a health care setting. Ambulatory, medical office or outpatient clinic required. Current Medical Assistant Certification or LPN required.
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with both public and coworkers orally and in writing, and the ability to work positively with all levels of clinical staff. Assertiveness, organizational skills, effective time management, flexibility and self-motivation are essential. Human relations and interpersonal skills are required. Experience with EHR is desired. Must be comfortable using a computer to do day to day job duties. Subject to elements of time pressure and interruptions of activities. Works in a well-lit, air conditioned office setting. May frequently walk and stands most of the time while on duty as well as sitting. Must be able to meet physical demands such as bending, stretching, kneeling, twisting, etc. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Maintains BCLS certification.

Verifies that required patient electronic health record is updated.
Provides personalized care for patients while assuring a timely patient flow through the office.

Assist health care providers when requested.
Assists with day-to-day operations as required for optimal patient care.
Attend staff development programs. Directs own continuing education activities and keep skills current, expand knowledge base ad comply with recertification/registration requirements.

Performs job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques. Plans actions to promote safety. Reports any unsafe situation/equipment according to hospital procedure.

Medical Assistant Task List
Order stock and immunizations, checking it in and processing documents related to supplies and immunizations. Insure VFC compliance and reporting as well as MICR record keeping. Check temp of immunization refrigerator and freezer and maintain temp logs daily in morning and afternoon.
Maintain medication and immunization records, including MICR.
Prep charts for the daily schedule.
Check patients in, obtain patient history and vital signs and enter info into EHR (including entering updated information from old records).
Prepare, maintain and stock examination and treatment areas including reviewing for outdated medications & supplies.
Prepare patient for examinations, procedures, and treatments, obtain proper consent forms, assist the Provider.
Prepare, maintain stock and administer medications and immunizations
Adhere to established triage procedures. Recognize and respond to emergencies.
Triage phone calls for the doctor as well as to determine patient’s needs for an appointment. Review messages & medication refill requests per policy. Takes patient phone calls from a multiline phone system and relays messages to providers when necessary. Takes phone calls from pharmacies and calls in prescriptions.
Notify patients of test results and chart appropriately. Send results letters as indicated.
Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection prevention. Clean, wrap and sterilize instruments.
Manage medical waste for the practice.
Obtain patient consent for procedures, set up for procedures and assist doctor as needed.
Prepare requisitions forms for the laboratory.
Perform basic spirometry test, ear lavages and EKGs when needed.
Collect and document Urine Drug Screens. Run MAPS reports on all patients on controlled substances.
Make and document referrals and obtain prior authorizations when needed.
May be responsible for medication room, treatment room, autoclave, etc.
