The Lee lab in Pharmacology & Toxicology at Michigan State University is seeking of a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to work on an exciting area in lipid and health. The Lee Lab focuses on designing new molecular probes and using the state-of-the-art instrumentations to study the signaling mechanism of lipid metabolites on human health.
The postdoctoral researcher will primarily work on the development of a novel analytical method for global metabolomic profiling of different treatment groups and identify novel bioactive metabolites using different type of mass spectrometry. In addition, the researcher will also be involved in the identification and separation of protein target(s) tagged by molecular probe(s). The candidate will also assist in experiments planning and data collection and analyses, as well as train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate will be responsible to publish results and will assist in grant preparation.
Doctorate -Biological / Biochemistry related
A Ph.D. in biological science (Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, or biochemistry related field) with strong background in analytical chemistry, global metabolomic profiling and protein mass spectrometry.
Proficient English writing and communication skills.
Productivity will be determined by peer-reviewed publications in the international scientific journals
Experience in preparative and analytical HPLC purification is desirable
Experience in protein tagging is highly desirable
Experience in protein purification
Expertise in identifying and characterizing proteins are highly preferable.
Willingness to work with radioactive compounds.
Ability to independently solve the scientific problem and design and conduct experiment.
