Position Summary
The research associate will work in collaboration with the Director of CREATE and faculty in the Colleges of Education, Natural Science, and Engineering to lead research projects that involve developing, implementing and revising curricular materials for K-8 science education; supporting the design and development of research; collecting, organizing and analyzing data; and writing scholarly materials.
Responsibilities include working in coordination with the director of CREATE and other faculty to: develop, implement and revise curriculum materials for K-8 science education; develop, revise, and analyze assessments of student learning; support the design and development of research; design, develop and implement professional development with both urban and suburban schools and teachers; collect, organize and analyze data; provide management and leadership for the project; work with a team to plan and write reports, conference papers and journal articles that disseminate the research; and make presentations at regional and national conferences.
The candidates will collaborate with faculty, post-docs, and graduate students in Michigan State's CREATE for STEM Institute (http://www.create4stem.msu.edu/), and will be encouraged to pursue their own research within the overall parameters of the project, as well as opportunities to write supplemental and related grants to further develop their research portfolio.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Sciences or Science Education
Minimum Requirements
Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in the sciences or in science education.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Science Education with a strong background in a science discipline are preferred. Additionally, candidates with curriculum development and project management experience, knowledge of mixed-methods research, and experience in elementary or middle school science teaching are highly preferred.
