The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Department of Pediatrics & Human Development plans to build an outstanding interdisciplinary and nationally prominent research program in pediatric autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders. To realize this goal, we are currently seeking proven investigators with well-developed research programs.
The ultimate goal of the research program is to identify the causes of and the environmental and genetic risk factors for autism and its related disorders. Of particular interest to us are: research that will lead to improvements in the early detection of these disorders, and; research that identifies genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic factors that affect the development and severity of these disorders.
To accomplish our goals, a robust partnership with families, schools, providers, and communities will be essential. This research program is being developed in concert with research both ongoing and planned across five colleges and ten departments at Michigan State University. Investigators recruited into this program will also be expected to collaborate with pediatric colleagues at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, and Hurley Children's Hospital in Flint.
Successful candidates must hold a doctoral degree and should be eligible for appointment in the Michigan State University tenure system. A strong track record of extramural funding is preferred.
