The PA who accepts this position can expect to be based in Detroit but travel to other Henry Ford sites to assist in the OR and for rounding.

• Provides inpatient and outpatient medical/surgical care, (e.g.: Patient history, physical examination, ordering and interpreting medical and laboratory tests, making medical/surgical diagnoses and instituting treatment programs) with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff

• Specific procedures within a specific surgical specialty are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience

• Within HFHS, functions as part of a medical/surgical care team

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree

• Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant or Surgeon's Assistant program

• Michigan state licensure

• Continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)

• Requires good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills, familiarity with computers, and excellent analytical and decision-making skills

• Ability to react to crisis situations quickly and effectively using department protocols and guidelines

• Not including clinicals, a minimum of 1 year working as a PA is preferred

• Cardio Thoracic Surgery or general surgical experience is preferred

• First Assist or OR experience is preferred
