Henry Ford Health System Physician Assistant/Thoracic Surgery/Detroit & Macomb/Days/Full Time in Detroit, Michigan
The PA who accepts this position can expect to be based in Detroit but travel to other Henry Ford sites to assist in the OR and for rounding.
Provides inpatient and outpatient medical/surgical care, (e.g.: Patient history, physical examination, ordering and interpreting medical and laboratory tests, making medical/surgical diagnoses and instituting treatment programs) with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff
Specific procedures within a specific surgical specialty are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience
Within HFHS, functions as part of a medical/surgical care team
Requires a Bachelor's Degree
Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant or Surgeon's Assistant program
Michigan state licensure
Continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
Requires good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills, familiarity with computers, and excellent analytical and decision-making skills
Ability to react to crisis situations quickly and effectively using department protocols and guidelines
Not including clinicals, a minimum of 1 year working as a PA is preferred
Cardio Thoracic Surgery or general surgical experience is preferred
First Assist or OR experience is preferred
