Acadia Healthcare Medical Records Coder in Detroit, Michigan
Under minimal supervision and/or established procedures, works as a team member to review medical records for correct ICD-10 code assignment. Utilizes manual and electronics systems to support documentation compliance. Performs technical and clerical functions to support the facility. Assists internal and external hospital customers while maintaining confidentiality.
Codes medical records as substantiated by medical record documentation. Initiates daily and monthly reconciliation reports and completes work to support reimbursement.
Analyzes medical records for omissions of required documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Abstracts pertinent information including, but not limited to, the Joint Commission mandated Hospital-Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services (HBIPS) Measure Set.
Supports professional fee coding/billing process.
Serves as a positive role model in providing internal and external customer assistance.
Qualifications or Skill Required:
Three years of work experience required. One year of coding experience; psychiatric coding experience preferred. Minimum of Associates Degree and RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC Credential required. Knowledge and Proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding. Computer keyboarding mandated. Attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Must have the ability to work flexible hours to accommodate changing work needs and meet deadlines
