Henry Ford Health System Dialysis Regis Clerk, Detroit Northwest in Detroit, Michigan
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, completes billing forms, enters the appropriate data into the computer and retrieves necessary reports. Receives patients into the dialysis unit or clinic, obtains patient's records, schedules tests and treatments, registers new patients, transcribes physician's orders, types miscellaneous materials and performs other related duties as required. Reports to the Head Nurse. Works closely with billing supervisor, physicians, technical leader and computer support personnel.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the billing cycle (e.g., monthly logs, monthly counts, and daily flow sheets)
Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
Demonstrates flexibility in work situation.
Demonstrates acceptance of constructive criticism and direction from supervisor.
Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Communicates with daily contacts, other departments, agencies or service organations.
Demonstrates ability to plan work activities.
Maintains neat and safe work area.
Completes medical records responsibilities.
Maintains payroll records.
Fulfills NIS/lab computer responsibilities.
Fulfills Network requirements.
Maintains supplies.
Demonstrates working knowledge and understanding of census reports and statistics.
Demonstrates working knowledge and understanding of unit administrative, organizational, and operating procedures/policies.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High School diploma with 6-12 months of on the job training and experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Stands and walks most of the time on duty.
Lifts and pushes patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs.
Lifts and carries dialysate solution containers.
May be subject to hazardous wastes and materials.
