Henry Ford Health System Athletic Trainer-Full Time, Mercy High School in Detroit, Michigan

The athletic trainer will be assigned to Mercy High School for athletic training services. Mercy High School is a Roman Catholic college preparatory high school for girls in Farmington Hills, Michigan upholding a strong tradition of competitive athletics in 20 sports. Sports include, but are not limited to, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball.

As this is a full-time position, a portion of the athletic trainer’s weekly time will be dedicated to the Orthopaedic Service Line, including but not limited to, physician clinic, sports performance, system initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive health care programs for athletes and other patients.

  • Under the direction of, on the prescription of or in collaboration with a physician, the practice of athletic training includes the treatment of an individual for risk management injury prevention, clinical evaluation and assessment, immediate care and treatment, and rehabilitation and reconditioning of injury or illness, or both.

  • The Athletic Trainer is placed in various sites for provision of services including, but not limited to, high school/college/university, outreach programming, community events and engagements, and HFHS sites.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent required.

  • Post-certification Master’s degree in athletic training or related field preferred.

  • At least two years of related and expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or a combination of education and experience preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize delivery of services as needed.

  • Adheres to community outreach or school policies, including but not limited to NCAA, NJCAA, and MHSAA while meeting expectations of community outreach programming.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Board of Certification, Inc. certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) required.

  • License as an Athletic Trainer (AT) through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs required.

  • Additional certifications and credentials obtained in health care (i.e. CSCS, PES, FMS, CKTP, EMT) preferred.
