Clemens Food Group Sr Lab Technician in Coldwater, Michigan

Our Lab Technicians perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and microbiological characteristics and aids other Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) functions for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development by performing the following duties. RESPONSIBILITIES * Consistently demonstrates basic GLPs (aseptic technique, safety, FIFO) * Complete laboratory testing on all incoming samples in an accurate, efficient and timely manner; ensure sample turnaround time goals are met or exceeded * Develop and maintain sampling schedules for testing programs internal/external as per program: Shelf-life, PFF, FAW, Micro, Salt, pH, etc. * Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers * Develop, maintain and train team on SOPs * Establish and maintain professional business relationships with internal and external customers, industry officials and vendors * Support lab management needs for laboratory budget and supply inventory * Assess lab equipment constraints and make recommendations to FS Supervisor for improvements * Evaluate new testing and procedures for future quality enhancements * Contribute to the design of FSQA testing sampling plans to support programs and problem resolution * Responsible for collection of production floor samples and monitoring production activities * Responsible for reporting data, trending results, initiating CAPMs when needed * Deliver training relevant to lab and plant practices * Maintain a lab supply inventory * Provide Technical Support to Lab Techs and Plant Team and troubleshoot plant/lab issues to bring resolutions with cross-functional team * Lead "special" projects and conduct testing to support the project and generate reports/analysis * Provide Backup and Relief support for Lab techs and designated back-up for FSQA Plant Team * Performs major maintenance on lab equipment and/or schedules service with equipment vendors * Review daily sample load and adjust accordingly * Maintain lab equipment in peak operational performance * Manage and follow-up on notifications on test results that do not meet spec. * Conduct plant validation studies and data analysis and report to key-stakeholders * Summarize data, write reports and present on trends * Performs shelf life testing to support plant teams, RD, customer complaints, and programs * Participate in external lab proficiency testing/benchmarking * Review individual daily results for equipment and lead resolution of nonconformance's * Review and approve daily paper work, logs and completion of sampling schedules/data entry * Review departmental data and formulate reports when needed * Review collection of samples and provide feedback to key stakeholders on performance * Provide training and awareness to internal stakeholders on lab functions and data availability * Participates in CFG leadership development opportunities and mentoring meetings * Proactively seeks to understand customer needs and assist plant team in problem solving * Participate in customer visits or audits to represent the lab and plant team * Attend and participate in key operations, FSQA and CFG meetings to represent the Lab or personal development opportunitiesQUALIFICATIONS * Associate's/Bachelor's Degree preferred or Minimum of 3 years experience in laboratorylant setting with a strong chemistry focus * Strong MS Excel, Word, Access, and Pow
