Henry Ford Health System Nursing Education Specialist - SICU/MICU Unit - 40 hours per week - Day shift - Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Nursing Education Specialist is an advanced practice nurse who provides leadership and works in partnership with nursing, the health care team and system leaders to develop a quality practice setting that supports professional nursing practice and quality patient care.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing (MSN) from accredited institution required

  • Minimum five years clinical experience and two years of teaching experience in a university or college and/or hospital/health care institution required.

  • Competence in curriculum or program design, development and evaluation.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, problem solving and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to inspire commitment and to energize people to achieve mutual goals.

  • Must be self directed and able to work independently.

  • Ability to integrate knowledge of cultural diversity into role.

  • Possesses broad knowledge of health care systems, trends, and the care continuum.

  • Communicates effectively orally, in writing and through technology.

  • Computer Skills: Considerable amounts of computer work. Computer skills including Microsoft Software (Word, PowerPoint) and familiar with use of Internet.

  • At least 5 years of critical care expeience required and 2 years of ICU educator experience preferred. The knowledge base required includes both medical and surgical critical care education; surgical cases include, neurosurg, CV, level 2 trauma cases.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Certification in area of specialty preferred; Current Michigan RN licensure required.

  • Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
