Description
The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for participating in hospital activities that directs customers, collects patient demographic and insurance information and processes that information via an internal computer system for collections and reimbursement.
Primary Responsibilities
Interprets patient/visitor requests for services.
Meets with patient/representative to obtain necessary registration/insurance information.
Verifies insurance for all patients
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required
High School diploma or equivalent required
One year experience in an insurance health care setting preferred
Extensive Contact with department staff and various staff members. May come in contact with physicians, patients and/or patients’ families
Ability to interpret insurance benefits and apply them to patient services. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and maintain calm composure with customers
