Orchid Orthopedic Solutions EH&S Specialist (2 Sites) in Chelsea, Michigan
SUMMARY OF POSITIONUnder general direction, the EH&S Specialist performs diversified duties to ensure the effective execution of environmental, health and safety programs and processes to prevent accidents and injury, protect company assets and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and established policies and procedures.
The role offers an opportunity to work across two Orchid facilities (Farmington Hills, MI site is involved in coating and packaging manufacturing, and the Chelsea, MI site is involved in plastics machining/injection molding manufacturing).

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Coordinate and cultivate an exceptional safety-focused culture with support of site leadership team
- Champion continuous improvement of EH&S programs, procedures and tools to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements
- Ensure effective and sustainable EH&S systems, programs and processes are in place
- Obtain and maintain Health & Safety records and required Environmental permits, licenses and documents as required by law
- Conduct ergonomic risk assessments and make appropriate recommendations
- Ensure hazard assessments are completed for all new equipment or processes
- Develop and coordinate internal auditing processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Serve as a resource to leadership team regarding the development of new capital projects to ensure that all EH&S issues are identified and addressed to ensure successful implementation
- Develop and conduct EH&S training programs for all employees as required by state and federal guidelines
- Serve as lead interface with OSHA, EPA or any other local, state, or federal agency
- Manage First Responder program and annual training requirements
- Manage SDS requirements and updates
- Coordinate safety committee activities
- Lead injury investigation and follow up activities
- Manage hazardous waste management program
- Report out on EH&S metrics
- Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
WORK EXPERIENCE
1+ Years of experience leading EH&S programs (Required), 3+ Years of Experience Working in EH&S in a Manufacturing Environment (Required)
EDUCATION
High School Or Equivalent Required, , Bachelor - Occupational Safety, Bachelor - Environmental Health & Safety
CERTIFICATIONS
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) - Or Equivalent (Preferred), First Aid/CPR/AED - (Preferred), Hazardous Waste Management Certificate - Or Equivalent (Preferred)
