McLaren Health Care Trauma Registrar in Caro, Michigan
Position Summary: Responsible for
data collection, both abstracting and analyzing, data entry, and data
completion of the trauma patient population. Also responsible for data
submission/distribution/report generation to/for the appropriate parties within
the designated time frame. Prepare documents and reports in support of the
Trauma Committee. May be responsible for maintaining the ARMC Trauma Center trauma
Essential Functionsand Responsibilities:
Extrapolate, correlate andinterpret all aspects of trauma patient care from medical records andtrauma registry; use charts, medical records and other department’sdatabases to identify procedural or treatment complications; determineappropriate ICD-9 codes for injuries and procedures.
Provide statistical reports and materials basedon trauma data collected; use appropriate software program to generatereports for research and quality improvement of the Trauma Center.
Attend Trauma Committee meetings; prepare charts,graphs and other materials for meetings; may prepare committee-meetingminutes, injury prevention and community education.
Input trauma data into the appropriate software.
Conduct Joint Commission on the Accreditation of HospitalOrganizations (JCAHO) and American College of Surgeons (ACS) mandatedaudits of files.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge byattending educational workshops; review professional publications; establishpersonal networks; participate in professional societies.
Perform other related duties as required anddirected.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: CSTR (Certified Specialistin TraumaRegistry) within two (2)years ofemployment.
Bachelor’s degree in health informationmanagement or a related field.
Current certification as a Certified TraumaRegistrar from the American Trauma Society's Registrar Certification Board(ATSRCB).
Twoyears of experience.
