div bspanGENERAL SUMMARY: /span/bspanspanspanUnder moderate direction, performs a variety of clinical diagnostic procedures. /spanVerifies patient location and physician order.span /spanExplains procedure to patient.span /spanPerforms cardiac ultrasound exam with color and Doppler flow, pediatric, stress echo and TEEs. Appropriately recognize need for Definity and inject as needed.span /spanspan/spanEnter patient information into computer and / or logs as applicable.span /spanNotifies appropriate personnel as necessary if patient needs further assistance./span/spanbspanESSENTIAL DUTIES:span /span/span/bspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanVerifies patient identification and physician order. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanProvides procedural information/education to the patient/family prior to each exam. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanAcquires an accurate patient history and documents in the medical record. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanPerforms Ultrasound and related patient care procedures using age appropriate methods for patient's physical ability and/or limitations. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanProficiently operates ultrasound imaging equipment and performs necessary quality control and quality assurance testing. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanMonitors patients during procedures to ensure patient safety. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanReviews ultrasound images with the Radiologist as necessary. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanEnsures STAT requests are relayed to radiologist in a timely manner. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanWhen required, assists with procedures using sterile technique, receives and documents samples for lab processing. Disposes of fluids according to biohazard protocols. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanEnsures equipment is wiped down between patients and exam room is clean and properly stocked with linen and supplies. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanAccurately and efficiently uses hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules and sending information to PAC's. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanUses effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participates with medical staff, management, technical and support staff. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanAssist in training new staff/students. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanVerifies correct patient, correct exam / final verification, clarify questionable orders with ordering physician or Radiologist./spanbspanSTANDARD QUALIFICATIONS: /span/bspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanGraduate ofAMA approved CardiacUltrasound Program or equivalent. /spanspanspanspan /span/span/spanspanMinimal as gained at student level. /spanspanspan
