InterCare Community Health Network COVID Testing Assistant in Bangor, Michigan

Job Descriptions:

InterCare is expanding its COVID-19 testing program through the creation of a dedicated testing team who will be deployed to conduct drive-through testing at every InterCare site, five days per week. This team is mobile and will spend half of their time at InterCare’s fixed sites, and half of their time at community locations such as workplaces, housing projects, community gathering places, churches and the like.

The Expanded COVID-19 Testing (ECT) program team is responsible for assessing symptoms, conducting swabbing, safely and properly handling lab materials, using telehealth technology, gathering and inputting patient information, delivering test results and following all public health reporting requirements.

WorkSchedule:Part-Time positions are available, must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed. Frequent work outdoors is required.

Job Responsibilities:

All ECT team members will be thoroughly trained in their roles including stringent infection controls and use of PPE.

  • Provide coverage for any team member as needed including testing and registration.

  • Demonstrate and explain the COVID testing process to a patient for a self-test.

  • Perform the actual COVID test when directed

  • Complete all registration tasks accurately and in the moment.

  • Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the electronic practice management system.

  • Review pay source information to assure it is up-to-date and has been verified online at the time of the patient visit.

  • Assess the need for insurance enrollment, sliding fee eligibility, and state funded assistance programs.

  • Educates patients regarding financial responsibility and InterCare’s payment policies.

  • Hold if needed.

  • Ensure that all COVID sites (as assigned) have the support and supplies per anticipated volumes.

  • Drive to each location as needed and provide appropriate supplies.

  • Ensure each site has the appropriate paperwork and quantity.

  • Anticipate and provide any administrative support that might be needed including but not limited to scanning and faxing.

  • Other job duties will be assigned & ownership taken on a daily basis to ensure that each team is running smoothly and on time.

  • Practice and ensure that the team is following appropriate infection control processes. Adhere to all regulatory body, infection control, and organizational standards.

  • Delivering (in person or by phone) test results.

  • This is not limited to the above job responsibilities and may be changed at any time depending on the needs of the teams and InterCare.

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrates a high degree of organization and accuracy.

  • Able to perform data entry, run reports, and operate common office equipment.

  • Displays compassionate, ethical, and professional demeanor.

  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite

  • Possesses excellent cross cultural communication skills and the ability to communicate to staff members

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, frequently sit, and lift up to 25 lbs

  • Ability to be outside in different kinds of weather for long periods of time

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, reach with arms & hands, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and manipulate (using keyboard, office equipment)

  • Visual acuity to use keyboard, operate office equipment, and read printed material and regularly required to talk and hear
