JOB ID:-1388_6686-03ac1d297f56da9b8ad4f846029595The department of Pathology at SJCRH is looking for a highly motivated and diligent scientist to join the research staff community. The selected candidate will be directly involved in clinical case data analysis, interpretation and reporting. Liaises with other services and departments to facilitate appropriate test ordering and interpretation. Works as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, including individuals from the departments of Pathology, Computational Biology, Cancer Predisposition, and Oncology. May collaborate with faculty in the development and implementation of research protocols in cancer genetics and genomics. Collaborates in the preparation of clinical validation and protocol documents, as well as manuscripts. Participates in the Pathology Department's method evaluation and independent research.* Leads data analysis and provides interpretation and reporting for Molecular Pathology and Clinical Genomics Laboratory tests in the Department of Pathology. Delivers high-quality results in a timely manner.* Provides information and consultation to clinical staff regarding the laboratory's tests including the appropriate use of tests, expected turn-around-times, limitations/accuracy of tests including reference lab tests, possible testing outcomes, sample requirements and testing logistics, interpretation of results, suggestions for appropriate consultations, resources and/or follow up for cases with abnormal results.* Provides support to Clinical Molecular Pathology in notifying clinical teams about known or potential sample problems (clotted, wrong specimen type, quantity insufficient, degraded, etc.).* Interfaces with interdisciplinary groups, including Computational Biology, Cancer Predisposition, Oncology, Laboratory Information System, Clinical Informatics and Research Informatics, to develop methods to improve or augment existing clinical workflows and analysis methods. Implements the improvement or works with others to do so. May also assist staff in policies related to genetic ordering, testing, utilization, selection of referral laboratories, CPT coding, billing, reimbursement and more.* Provides scientific and clinical expertise for assay development, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting. Works with directors, clinicians, laboratory managers and technologists to design, validate and implement new and relevant molecular tests, processes, and procedures. Assists in developing relevant clinical and lab policies regarding new tests.* Designs/maintains reporting templates for SJCRH molecular pathology/clinical genomics laboratories* Understands the biological problem that needs to be solved and formulates an efficient analytical approach with the available data. Document the analytical process, as needed and participates in validation, protocol and manuscript preparation at each project's conclusion.* Communicates effectively to Molecular Pathology staff and directors on the progress of projects and presents results with clarity and accuracy.* Assists with establishing and documenting protocols or best practices for common tasks.* Assists with and contributes to manuscript preparations and academic conferences.Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field requiredFive years of clinical and/or research experience required.
